Aram Bedrosian is a rising master of solo bass guitar; his debut eponymous album showcases his peerless ability to coax every possible combination of sound out of a single four-string bass guitar at incredible speeds, composing music which is deeply layered and mystical in quality.
The lead single from the album, Space Opera, is as enchantingly beautiful as it is frighteningly technical. While it's somewhat demeaning to cram such a song into five plastic frets, that's what you'll find here, and the result is as magical and impossible as its real-world counterpart.
Fair warning. When Bedrosian plays, he uses eight fingers (and one thumb) to play across four strings, often all of them simultaneously. You get the joy of following the same action using half the fingers and only one strum bar. Good luck.
