Problems after exporting as rwk

Exporting as rwk seems to unload that song from memory or something cus once you export as rwk you can't do anything with it. Exporting as rwk again throws an error about not being able to access a closed file, exporting as anything else crashes with an unhandled exception, as trying to edit the song. Qwertymodo 19:18, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Closing rwk removes song from the list

If you open an rwk, install it to local cache, then close it, it gets removed from the list, despite still being in the local cache.

Editing a song while transcoding the song aborts transcoding

<CaitSith2> Found a bug. Transcode for rockband, immediately choose to edit song. (This aborts the transcoding). As soon as you try to transcode again, it skips doing so, even though it had been aborted early.
<CaitSith2> Since it doesn't delete the files just created, if the process was aborted.
 <Aaron`> Editing aborts transcoding? o_O
<Kurdran> I think you end up with an "installed" song when you close the program to abort too

Audio settings and format issues

There is currently no way to adjust audio options, such as track/instrument delegation, volume, and balance, without importing/swapping the audio. Importing .mogg files causes an exception instead of a warning.

Expert+ Glitch

Bass drum notes aren't imported properly for songs with Expert+ tracks (whether importing in Expert+ mode or not).

Other chart issues

No cymbals charted for (GH5) Brianstorm, (GH5) Runnin Down a Dream, (BH) Paralyzer, and (BH) Bring Me to Life.

File in use error

Starting RB while copying songs to the "SD" card caused one of the threads to die with a "file in use" error on the "data" file as the Wii was accessing it. The thread was then in a stuck state (re-installing only used one thread while the second thread was displaying the old progress information still). Remfin 20:46, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

You just have a talent for finding the most obscure bugs don't you? Aaron 23:30, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Bug filed under "Don't do stupid shit" with a copy sent to the "Did you really expect this to work?" department. Tueidj 15:51, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Complete .chart support

It's incomplete.

As is this bug report Qwertymodo 19:56, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Crash after exporting .rwk [3.0b3]

Get an unhandled exception error when exporting a rwk file and immediately trying to edit song data. Crash log here.

importdata encoding error (GH3)

Some songs use weird extended ASCII codes that Windows doesn't like reading from XML:

<album>Blue Öyster Cult</album> Ö is 0xd6, needs to be 0xc3 0x96 (utf-8)

<album>Doppelgänger</album> ä is 0xe4, needs to be 0xc3 0xa4 (utf-8)

Possible fixed xml tested with .NET XMLReader/IE8

Song >> Refresh does not change prefix/suffix on songs on the storage device

When changing the prefix/suffix preference and clicking on "Refresh" under "Songs", the song names do not get refresh in the storage deivce. Reference this post: [1]

Wii App

General Issues

  • Game freezes with high-pitched noise when backing out from certain menus, including from the character selection screen in Quickplay, and from band selection in World Tour. KyleJCrb
I get this too. It's probably a memory issue and there probably isn't a whole lot they can do about it... Qwertymodo 05:59, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

USB HDD issues

Hardware tested: Western Digital WD1200B015-RNN 120GB external hard drive (drive is externally powered by an AC adapter)

  • App does not initially recognize that the drive is plugged in. Must be unplugged then plugged back in (sometimes two or three times) before RawkSD detects that it is attached and allows the USB option in the Devices settings to be selected. This seems to also happen with an SD card using a USB adapter.
  • Hard drive spins down when not in use. This seems to cause issues in the game itself, including:
    • When the game is left paused for a few minutes, after the hard drive has spun down, resuming play leaves the game with no song audio and a buggy note track. Game must be restarted.
    • When playing longer on-disc RB2 songs, or setlists featuring only in-game tracks. If the drive has spun down, going back to the song selection results in the game freezing when attempting to play song previews from the USB drive. These songs will also cause the game to freeze the loading screen when attempting to play them (if selected before the preview can load on the selection screen).

Feature Requests

PC App

Preview Fade In/Out

 Add fade in/out for previews.
2 seconds fade seems about perfect. Qwertymodo 08:14, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Reminders For Tier Values

<Inim> when adding tier data to a custom, it would be nice if a tooltip or something would be accessible to remind us of the number guidelines for each instrument
Better idea. Make the dots clickable so you can just click, say the 3rd dot and it fills in 3 dots difficulty and sets it to the value for that instrument that corresponds to 3 dots. Basically like MAGMA. But keep the number boxes for fine-tuning. Qwertymodo 08:13, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Adjust Default Column Widths

<Inim> maybe change the default width of the Edit box so scrolling tabs aren't necessary in the first place

Error Queue

<SFenton> Perhaps instead of errors when importing/doing whatever, it skips over it and moves onto the next task, instead of waiting on user input, then, after completion, displays all the errors in a log at the right?

Support for non-RB/GH games

  • Probably not likely to ever happen, but it would be an interesting experiment to see if it's even possible to rip the audio and charts from DJ Hero, Rock Revolution, and Power Gig.
I think you have "interesting" confused with "painful". Tueidj 15:58, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Option to Close to Tray

It would be nice if RawkSD could be closed to the tray in the case that you wanted to run customs from RiiFS but wanted to hide the app window.

Remember Previous State

Remembering the sorting option and window size when you close the app for when you open it the next time would be nice. I find I always tend to use the same sorting/size but it's not the default. Qwertymodo 10:52, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

RB3 Pro Drums

When converting Guitar Hero drum charts, it should set all green notes as "green tom" pro drum notes (=green note + green tom modifier note), all orange notes as "blue cymbal" pro drum notes (=blue note) and all blue notes as "blue tom" pro drum notes (=blue note + blue tom modifier note).

Wii App

Random Suggestions

  • Ability to skip the intro video entirely. I know that it can be skipped pretty simply by pressing a button, but just getting rid of it completely would be handy.
Then you'd want us to get rid of the start screen, then the main menu... we might as well make the game exit as soon as it starts to save you the trouble of actually playing. Tueidj 16:01, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
  • Ability to install a channel, similarly to Riivolution, would be pretty nice (though it's not too hard to create one on our own, I'm sure the average user would appreciate it more)
Installing a channel for a beta app is a dumb idea. Tueidj 14:36, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Fixed

Testers, mark these as [CONFIRMED] when you can.

Changing Song ID [CONFIRMED] [3.0b4]

When you change the song ID, it should also rename the folder containing the song files, like RawkSD 2 did. RawkSD 3 doesn't. Qwertymodo 04:50, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

I think I fixed this too. Aaron 23:30, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Charter signature in rwk [CONFIRMED] [3.0b3]

Could you add a charter field to the metadata? It wouldn't affect the game, but then when you distribute customs as rwk's you'd have a place to "sign" them, kind of like how FoF has a field for that in the song ini so people would know who charted it.

Good now? Aaron 05:12, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Yup :) Qwertymodo 20:03, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Error while installing, kill the half-installed song

<Szalkow> Wow. I can assert that RawkSD is robust - it didn't mind a power outage turning off my drive I'm ripping discs from for a good ten seconds.
<Szalkow> lol, RawkSD PC finally broke. "An I/O error occurred." NO REALLY?
<Szalkow> OH GOD IT'S GOING TO SHOW ME THIS ERROR FOR EVERY SONG I TRIED TO CONVERT
<SFenton> Szalkow, been there, done that, on GH3, TWICE.  :P
 <Szalkow> Should I just cold-cock the program?
<SFenton> I did that the third and fourth times. >.>
<Szalkow> It already made folders and songdatas for the songs. Will it know that I don't have them installed locally next time?

Szalkow addendum: unfortunately, if a folder and songdata existed it treated this as available, and wouldn't let me reinstall them en masse. Deleting the incomplete song folders solves this.

Should be fixed unless it's a holyshitrawksdjustdied kind of unhandled crash. Aaron 23:30, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Installed qwertymodo's custom via .rwk and tried to install locally. Got an error. qm says the audio is a 3-track wav.

I got this with a stereo mp3 too. Qwertymodo 19:42, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

This is probably due to the beta release missing pthreadGC2.dll? Aaron 23:30, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

SDHC card incompatibility [NOT A BUG]

Hardware tested: Transcend Class 6 32GB SDHC card

  • Does not appear to be compatible with RawkSD3 at all via the front SD card slot. The app can be loaded via the HBC using this card, but the SDHC logo does not display in the bottom when the card is inserted and the SD selection is greyed out in Devices settings. All functions work as expected when using the SD card through a USB adapter. I have tried reformatting the card using both Windows XP Computer Management and Panasonic SDFormatter v3b. Neither makes any difference. Card can be used as normal with WiiWare and Virtual Console games and other homebrew I've tested, but it does not load BootMii at system startup.

KyleJCrb

This is probably caused by RawkSD being unable to find a clean IOS that supports SDHC. Tueidj 00:30, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Moved assuming tueidj's answer applies. Aaron 23:30, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Blank Audio when exporting [CONFIRMED] [3.0b3]

Also, Rawk 3 doesn't offer to include blank audio when you don't have the rights to the audio. Maybe something that you could do when you get around to adding this is also include some kind of flag so that when someone opens an .rwk without audio, the PC app brings up a dialog informing the user that the audio is not included, then display the song data (Artist, Album, Track Number) and ask if the user wants to import the audio now. Also, store the audio delay so when the user imports the song it pops up and displays the recommended delay settings (these delays would have to be separate from the ones actually used by the app in the case that you manually added the silence yourself when you actually wrote the chart, because then you wouldn't need any delay added to your own audio but you could tell other users what delay they would need when they import)

  • tl;dr version: Rawk3 doesn't ask if the audio should be included when exporting to .rwk like Rawk2 did. Fixitfixitfixit. Tueidj 14:30, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

--That ignores the suggestion to remember the audio delay setting so when the user imports the audio they can know the right audio delay. Right now the only way to know is to read it from the wiki page for a given song... that info should be embedded in the .rwk. Qwertymodo 00:19, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Uh, I think this is an option now. Aaron 23:30, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

RawkSD PC and files in use [CONFIRMED] [3.0b3]

Opening a disc file or archive and then deleting/removing the file's contents from the import list still treats the imported files as in use - the original files cannot be moved, renamed, etc. until RawkSD is closed.

You can now close all open files/folders from the menu. Aaron 23:30, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Cannot delete song created on Inim's computer [AWAITING CONFIRMATION] [3.0b3]

<SFenton`> When Inim helped me with my song, he sent me a .rwk.
 <SFenton`> I installed locally.
<SFenton`> Now, I've created a better version, so I go to delete that version
<SFenton`> And it says something along the lines of "Cannot find directory C:\Users\Ben\Desktop\rawk3b2\songs\diamondeyes"
 <SFenton`> My directory is "C:\Users\Stephen\Desktop\milos\rawksd\songs\diamondeyes"
<SFenton`> I have to delete it manually, Rawk won't do it for me.

DTB/DTAs have malformed data [AWAITING CONFIRMATION] [3.0b3]

Both DTBs and DTAs are having data written for some attributes that should be excluded entirely if not set (such as Album). Possible crash causer?
DTAs are also having their data malformed in the transitition somehow: for instance, LRB:Just For Tonight has a valid midi in the DTB but in the DTA it's just

       (
           'midi_file'
           ""
       )

Remfin 21:07, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Okay, fixed. But why is midi_file so important? Aaron 22:17, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
It isn't, it's just a symptom (I had two songs have Album go walkabout and one have its Artist go AWOL), but I had confirmed JFT manually and someone on a board mentioned the same problem happen for them on it so I assumed it was reproducible. It also made the DLC Manager crash :D Remfin 14:37, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
I should point out when I said "crash causer" I was referring to whatever wackiness may ensue when RB2 reads 0-length strings from DTBs (tueidj assures me that is fine however). Obviously I should add some more safety checks to my program so it doesn't crash, but 0-length strings and the DTA corruption shouldn't really exist in the first place to cause the crashes which is why I reported it. Remfin 15:02, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
Just go fix your buggy warez manager and stop making up bugs. Tueidj 20:44, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Chart Configuration Bug [AWAITING CONFIRMATION] [3.0b3]

Under Chart Configuration, you can select a Milo_Wii, but then clicking the box to select weights (and then selecting the weights file) results in the Milo text box having the milo directory replaced with weights directory.

Confirmed fixed in b3 Qwertymodo 19:34, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Changing 'Game' causes crash [CONFIRMED] [3.0b3]

<tueidj> actually it seems there's a bit of fail in the UI there
<tueidj> under Engine Data it has both Game: (as a drop down) and Pack: (as an edit box)
<tueidj> changing Game makes it crash

Szalkow confirms. Exception can be ignored without issue, although Game box won't keep changes

Game selection is gone; it's a property that's only really useful internally anyway. Aaron 22:17, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Version and Preview Time not saved in rwk files [CONFIRMED] [3.0b3]

When importing .rwk files, Version and Preview Time default back to 0 and 00000ms-30000ms, respectively.

  • Version should probably default to 1 when creating a new custom as well, not 0
  • Preview Time unable to be changed/saved
Confirmed fixed in b3 Qwertymodo 19:40, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

RB1 midi conversion error? [AWAITING CONFIRMATION] [3.0b3]

 * is supposed to be a talky marker I believe. Seen it show up in phrases I thought were talkies in Are You Gonna Be My Girl and Wanted Dead or Alive
Yup, changed it to ^. Aaron 22:46, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Random Suggestions

  • Ability to turn off the Wii drive light flash when reading from a USB hard drive. This can get fairly obnoxious for those of us with our Wiis next to our TV screens.
