RE: RE: Custom Song Creation and Insertion Tutorial
As far as communication goes, you really should get xfire if you don't have it. Much better than crappy browser-based IRC's. Just go download it from http://www.xfire.com/ and then go to search users in the program toolbar and search for me (CJB100).
And I'd like to know these charting techniques you were talking about, because Feedback is awesome, Anvil Studio isn't awfully hard to set up and understand, but KRMAker sucks so hard. Haha.
As far as improvements on your program go, the problems aren't really your program, as much as RB2 is picky about the events that it will and will not accept. But there are a few things you could do to make the program better. I'm going to use some extremely simple terms here because my knowledge of programming only goes as far as game maker and some simple C and C#. Also I don't know how easy this stuff would be to do, but here it goes:
1) The random animations for customs. My main complaint here is that the characters do way too many "ending" and "beginning" animations (examples being destroying guitars/bass's before the guitar/bass chart starts, or during pauses in the guitar/bass chart before the end of the song; drummer waving sticks and appearing to start playing before drums start or during drum tracks, etc). Could there possibly be a check to see if the chart of a particular instrument is playing notes or is going to start or end in a relatively small amount of time before adding in these sorts of random animations? Because I noticed that the drummer basically plays according to the drum chart most of the time, and the guitarist usually strums to the guitar chart, the bassist to the bass chart, etc.
2) The vocalist almost always sings when there are no vocals and doesn't open his mouth when there are. I realize that without charting out commands for each song in particular, the singer will be really hard to sync to the vocal chart, but can you try to at least make it so that the mouth opens and closes at the semi-correct times? Not a complaint, more of a pipe dream really, but hey. Might as well mention it. (If I could get super specific here for a moment, on the off-chance that this isn't as hard as I believe it will be to do; it would be even better if you could make the actions based on lyrics also, and have the lips open on vowels, and close slightly on consonants, and close completely when no vocal part is active.)
3) Song-specific album art? Or does Wii version of the game just not even have support for this? Because I know that XBOX360 does.
4) This is a suggestion that I'm 99% sure you can't do with your program but would it even be possible for you to code in a value that changes the grouping to a specific group? Example being that on 360, you have groups for "RB1 songs", "RB2 songs", and "RB DLC" which can be viewed by changing the sorting based on game. Could we do the same with Wii, but be able to do something even better, like have custom groupings - like, say "My Custom Charts" or "FOF Custom Charts" etc?
5) Song section titles only appear half-way labeled in practice mode. Example: I label a section "Verse I" and it appears as "Ver". Am I doing something wrong here? Because others like "Intro" and "Outro" appear perfectly. Also if this is not my mistake and not just RB2's game engine being stupid, is it a bug in the program and if so can it be fixed?
6) The last thing I can think of is this - Will you be making a program to do the same thing with RB: Beatles? Because somewhere I heard that the Wii version supports DLC and HC SD cards (although I may be wrong, I'll find out in 3 days when I buy the game), whereas your program supports HC SD cards but RB2 does not and as far as I have seen there is no work-around for this.
Custom Song Creation and Insertion Tutorial
So after downloading and messing around with v2.01 of RawkSD for about half of a week, I think I've finally figured out just about every knick-knack there is to mess with in your program. But it came to my attention that your tutorial for the insertion of custom songs into Rock Band 2 DLC appears somewhat out-of-date. And a step-by-step tutorial on this wiki for the creation of custom songs is non-existant.
With your permission, I would like to create a tutorial on how to effectively and time-efficiently make custom songs using the programs: Feedback v0.97b, Anvil Studio Midi Editor, and KRKareoke. Tutorials can be found on scorehero on how to do this, but I believe I could make my tutorial much more "fool-proof" and "user-friendly." Also, if you are not already going to do so, I would be willing to write a more in-depth and up-to-date insertion tutorial.
The reason for this being that I have heard many people call your program a waste of time, along with other negative criticisms, because they simply didn't have the know-how to fix their problems (which are usually simple). I, myself, had quite a hard time understanding how the program worked at first, because of the lack of documentation. But after fooling with it, I realized that it is just very picky with the midi files you feed it.
With new tutorials, your program would become much more user-friendly, and therefor attract more attention to the custom wii rb2 scene.
If you would be interested, contact me by using my talk page on this wiki, by xfire (gamer tag is CJB100), or by going to http://www.guitarzero2.proboards.com/cgi and looking me up and pm'ing me.
And btw, I don't always talk in this civilized manner haha. But this kind of situation kinda calls for it, I think.
I hope to hear back from you. --CJB100 16:25, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
You Rawk
could you make my RawkSD,GuitarsOnFire Forum the official forum of RawkSD [www.yourawk.net/forum YR Forum] --Calthephenom 21:28, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Weird Glitch
I Found A Glitch Where When You Install The RawkSD IOS37 Patch With a PS2 GH2 NTSC-U Disc In It, When The Patch Is Done Applying And It Redirects to the wii home menu, The RB2 Disc Info (when you goto the disc channel with RB2 in ur wii) Is Shown. It Only Works When The Game Is Inserted Into The Wii Before It Goes To The HBC, And Only Works Once For Each Time The Patch Is Applied, And Only Works For 3 Patch Installations --Calthephenom 01:02, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
Charting Guide
I was just wondering if you were going to finish the Charting sub-pages. I have several songs with lighting and camera cuts all planned out, but my drummer is playing fills on cymbals, and drum rolls with one hand... BAPACop 19:48, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
- Late response, I know. That's kinda deprecated now thanks to [1], but maybe someday I will. I started them because I wanted a quicker reference than the RBN docs. Aaron 16:02, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Lego Rock Band
Are there any plans to make a Rawk SD program that works with LRB? (I dont Mean importing LRB songs to RB2) --King Kool Beans 18:07, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
- Nope. Aaron 16:02, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Band Hero, GH:VH and TB:RB
Will the next update of RawkSD be able to import songs from TB:RB GHVH and Band Hero?--King Kool Beans 19:57, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

is there any way you could automatically insert drum fills every, idunno, 10-15 loops, depending on the BPM? --Calthephenom 20:53, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
Audio missing from custom files
When I play custom songs on Rock Band 2 for Wii, The tracks are fine, but the audio does not come in. At all. Is there a specific audio format that I have to have the song in? or specific volume level? or what? Because I cannot hear the audio in the songs when I play them on Rock Band 2.
